We are owners of a new puppy(our 2nd dog) and have just returned from a weekend at a site in the Peak District. We had a great time with him even though he was awake at 05.30 whining to go 'out',I cringed as he started the wimpering thinking of the people around us, When we got up properly a bit later we were greeted by a rather large number two right in the middle of the road to the toilets, etc. It may have been an 'accident' but the owners could have cleaned it up as we witnessed this every time all weekend wherever we went, even in the town that we visited. As usual al dog owners will now be tarred with the same brush. Why can't all dog owners clean up after their pets?.

Most of them are lazy.
Thats BLOODY RUDE AND UNFAIR and I take exception to that, most caravanners/campers do clean up, I stay on a lot of sites throughout the year and I can honestly say that there are hardly any where I have seen any dog mess. Only one springs to mind.
Edit to say mike and judi what site was it we go to the peak district quite a lot, I would be interested to know.
I've just come back from the C&CC site at Windermere which has a farm track right along one side where you can walk your dogs. There's a notice on the gate asking campers to pick up after their dogs and saying that bags are available from reception. There was still loads of dog mess not cleared, some of right in the middle of the path. I think it's very selfish to leave it. I have bags in all my pockets and handbags - it's not as if they take up any space.
Mind you, there had been horses down there, too, and nobody picked up after them either!
Horse manure is simply grass and poses not risk to human health whatsoever. It also breaks down very quickly. Not to mention they dont make nappy bags big enough :)
i live in a small country village and you try telling my children that horse poo does not create a problem, Most days they have to avoid several big clumps on the way to school and i have seen on more than one occasion a small child trip and fall either into or very close to the poo. That doesnt excuse dog owners but horse riders should be accountable too
