I am looking at this site to. Having problems with my phone atm so have been emailing them about vacancies. They have not replied but have kindly added my email address to their mailing list and sent me a newsletter explaining how wonderful their sites are!!
All I want is a yes or no for the dates I have given!!
Sorry Rockingal - we were hoping to o this week, if we ever get there I will let you know!!
I just got an email back from them saying that on 14th August they have no pitches with electric hookup available. Just up the road at Freshwater beach holiday park, they have availability, but not near play area.
If anyone can recommend anything that might be available then with a pool and paly area and hook up, please let me know.
We ended up there purely by accident on our first ever 'big' August holiday camping (we had previously only done a couple of weekends). We had booked to go to a site at Charmouth, a bit further up the coast, but only stayed there one night and couldn't stand it so demanded our money back and headed off with only our 'Cades' book for advice.
Got there and although they were busy/nearly full there was still enough room for you to choose where you wanted to pitch. They told us that the first field (nearest all the facilities) can get quite noisy, so not to go on there if noise bothered us.
We went on the next field, just behind the trees from the first, and I think this was one of the best places to be. Not too close to the facilities that the noise would bother you but still close enough for you to be able to walk to the pool in your cozzie without feeling self conscious! There was a toilet/shower block about 20 mtrs away in the centre of the field.
The play area isn't really near to the camping areas but we felt it was close enough to let the kids go on their own (age 7+8) and it is positioned well if you are going to be going over to the 'Bar in the Barn'. From there you can keep an eye on them easily. There's also a huge playing field where most of the kids were attempting to fly kites.
The entertainment was good although we only went over twice in the week we were there because we were still crabbing/fishing off the harbour at Weymouth til about 10pm most nights! It was brill! (if you like that sort of thing) The kids loved it, and still say thats the best holiday hey have ever had!
We went back last year, but the weather was rubbish so it wasn't quite as good, and we spent more money on doing things indoors but all in all still had a great time.
Cost us about £95 for the week (2 adults + 2 kids) which I think is a bargain for what you get. I've struggled to find anywhere else with similar facilities for the same sort of price.
Just trying to decide what to do/where to go this summer!
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
