As total newbies we are going to take the small 3 man tent to a site first before we have the courage to take one of the bigger tents (Sunncamp Villa 5 or Sunncamp APS3600+).

We don't want to go too far for the first trip in case I decide I have had enough!

My husband has camped before as a kid and as an adult at festivals etc, our 9 year old will probably love it but I have never been so am a bit wary.

:)

We live near Trentham Gardens in Staffordshire so are looking for somewhere within about 20 miles or so of there.

Any suggestions please folks?

We will be taking a small dog too.

Hi another Stokie here! From Burslem (but Stoke fans! )

Although we never actually stopped on Callow Top, i'd recommend it too. One of my mates and his young family swear by place and get up there as much as possible. Recently we stopped at Peak Gateway in Ashbourne and popped over to Callow Top. Gotta say it looked superb! Peak Gateway where we stopped was a nice site too. Both sites are only 30 mins out of Leek

I can recommend Pillaton Hall Farm near Penkridge having been there last weekend if you want a quiet site - the play equipment will suit your 9 year old as well. My 8 and 11 year old loved it. I have posted a review today on the site, just waiting for it to be posted up.
