Hello All, is the 6 meter rule used by c cc a legal requirement for safety reasons..I only ask because we are off to Folkstone c c c and have read some posts about being too close to other tents. Thanks Phil

The legal distance between units varies according to local authority regulations, usually between 3 and 6 metres, but the C&CC adopts 6 metres as their standard as that satisfies all local authority requirements.
Hi neigarth
Folkstone C&C Club site as quite a few small pitches that are fenced and will not fit tents over 4X4 meters but down by the second toilets the pitches are large and most families set up down there,
A slight warning for Folkstone just as you start to go off down the site on the left there is a deep pit that takes about 3 tents. looks fantastic, do not go in it, it floods very deep and fast in heavy rain, and make sure you don't pitch in any gully's or dips as these also puddle very quickly. look for the high ground just in case it rains heavy.
The site is as it says in a warren right under the white cliffs, this is the reason for the fast rise in the water, other wise it is one of the more scenic site of the C&C Club. We used to feed a fox every night with dog food the last visit we had.
hope you enjoy your stay

Is the 6 metres a clear space between each outfit or only between caravans, ie can the car still be parked in that 6 metre space?
I ask because the site we are on doesn't have a gap of any sort so we are pitched caravan, awning, car, caravan, awning, car with each car being right next to the neighbouring van with inches to spare! I always think this is not quite right because the whole row would go up if there was a fire.
Thats interesting - I have always tried to make sure there are 6M between the guy lines... any closer and I'd feel like I was sleeping with the neighbours (I was really annoyed in France last year when the neighbours put their guylines on our pitch)!

We stayed at cheddar c & cc which have hardstandings already laid out but then moved to tregurrian c & cc which paced out the six metres. the six metres include awnings but not cars.
Hi all.
The C&C Club six meter rule says they must be six meters between the members unit.
The unit may consist of caravan awning and pup tent.
Tent pup tent
in theory the unit is any enclosure that members sleep in.
the vehicle, boat, guy ropes are not included as the unit but must not impede another's members pitch.
That is not the correct wording but it is what it means in short. Pretty sure I am correct.
Private site are as Bernie says.
Hope that helps.
Rex.
