We have just decided that we are going to have a week away at the end of August...(I know... short notice during peak time..!)

As we have never been to Norfolk we are unsure which would be the best bit to go to...We need tent pitch with EHU and want to be quite close to a quiteish beech...as there are just the two of us we dont need on site entertainment...just decent showers and loos...! Tall order at this time of the year I know...but any locals got any ideas..?

Have a look at "Walnut Farm" which is at Waxham. It has beautiful (and usually quiet) beaches close by at Waxham, Sea Palling and Horsey. The site is also close to several 'Broadland' villages, where you could hire a 'day boat' if you fancy a little 'chug about' on the Norfolk broads...

You'll find details of the site under Norfolk (surprisingly enough!) in the "Camp site search" facility, with reviews too (including mine) and they also have a website which you can 'click' on. I can't guarantee you'll be able to get a booking in August, but it's worth a try, as it's a nice site in a (usually) quiet area...

Hi Taviour

May I suggest Manor Farm in East Runton.  This is just outside Cromer (approx 15mins walk to the sea front / 2-3 mins by car).   Search in the site finder, and you can also go to their website via this site.

We had 10 nights there earlier this month and thoroughly enjoyed it.  There are 3 different fields and they have good sized EHU pitches - some are rather sloping, as the site is on a hill.  It's a large site, and although some of the tenters who turned up around the weekend  seemed to want to pitch an inch away from each others guy ropes (I don't think that some of them had been camping before), the EHU pitches are a generous size and dedicated for EHU only.  Non-EHU campers are told to stay off those pitches

10mins walk / 2 mins drive to 2 supermarkets.

Good for exploring north Norfolk - Sheringham, Wells-next-the-Sea Great Yarmouth, and even Hunstanton area are not too far away by car, if you want to explore.  A few National Trust houses not far away and many touist attractions.  Wildlife watching places such as Blakeney and Cley.

Facilities good.  Free showers. Toilets and showers were kept clean. Washing up and laundry facilities.  Ice pack freezing.

Beach at Cromer is good.  It wasn't jam-packed earlier this month, but really can't speak for August.  However, there are quieter stretches further along the beach.  Lovely little beach at Sheringham, which appears to be a bit more sheltered - and is quieter.

I haven't submitted a review yet, but I hope that this covers it all for you if you are interested in this particular area of north Norfolk.

Have a great time, wherever you decide to go!

All the best!

Mr Bear

Good luck!  We could see the Cromer church tower, but then there were some trees in the way, which obscured our view a bit.  However, we could see the sea, so on a sunny day it was nice to sit outside the tent and gaze at the blue and the horizon.

We were told about the great sunsets in Norfolk's big skies - and we weren't let down.  We went into a lower field on a few evenings to watch the sun set over the coast.

One of the fields are higher up on the hill, so I would assume that there is an even better view from there.
