Just to say that despite serious problems with our tent, we had a great week in yorkshire and recomend it to anyone wanting a traditional family holiday.
Scarborough, Filey and Whitby are all lovely, clean, no litter or graffiti and have the same feel they had when we were children (we didnt manage to visit Bridlington). We also loved the dales, Pickering, Malton and Helmsley in particular. we ended up in a cottage in Rosedale Abbey which is gorgeous. (there is a site there which looks lovely).
Although we were slightly out of season which may have helped, we had no trouble parking and it seems that the local authority is working very hard to help visitors.
all in all a lovely holiday with something for everyone.

I've not stayed there for a couple of years but that site in Rosedale is a cracker! Decent site, nice little village with 3 pubs, a little tea shop cum bakers and you can also leave your car and take the Moorsbus which my kids loved!
