Hello all!

Would like to start by saying what a great website this is! Found it earlier this year and used it to find sites around the north.

We (a couple) are off to Cornwall in a couple of weeks and seriously need to sort out and book some sites. They need to have toilets and showers. Ideally not a busy holiday park type site. Good views or secluded pitches would be great, and walking distance to a nice beach and pub would be great.

We are thinking of Land's End or the Lizzard area, but to be honest I havn't a clue about Conwall. Would just like to stay away from hidiously busy areas/towns.

Any suggestions would be great!

Many thanks for reading!

Paul.

Trevorsu camp site at Ashton between Helston and Penzance is an ideal location-easy drive to most places and very quiet secluded site with only 16 pitches

Apul,

Choosing the Lizard or Lands End you will be away from the commercial Newquay type area. Bear in mind that the sites that are close to beaches tend to be more expensive and busier, so it may be worth looking a little more inland.

Because most sites will be very busy and may be totally booked, I'd do a search on this site using the map search, read the reviews and then ring the ones you fancy to see if they have room.

CLs and CSs are always worth a look, although again they may be booked.

Fingers crossed the sun shines.......it's raining here at the moment!

We stayed at Sennen Cove last year. It is right on the beach, just several hundred feet above it!

It is a caravan club affiliated site with shop, toilets, showers and a laundry room. It was very busy and the camping area looked very crowded to me. But it was a lovely location.

I think you may be able to book but it looked large enough that you might just be able to turn up and ask.

I will go and see if I can find the name of it.

Trevedra Farm it was called. Although Caravan Club site the CC part of it is a separate field. The rest of it is a mix of camping, caravans, and motorhomes. Some very interesting units there too. One there was a removals lorry with a wooden shed on it. Mum and Dad looked like surf bums with loads of little kids.   A very happy family they were too.

Thanks for the suggestions! Will look at them now.

Wow, that map thing is good! An excellent feature of the site.

More suggestions would be very welcome!

Thanks. Paul.

I grew up there and my favourite site is at Treen Farm.  It's a short (but steep) walk to one of the best beaches in Cornwall (Pedne Vounder) and the Logan Rock Inn is very close by.  Can't think of anywhere better to spend a few days.

Just been looking at Treen Farm! Looks like a great location. We love walking as well. Is it possible to walk to the cliffside theatre from there?

Any more suggestions of places to visit, eat etc would be more than welcome.

Many thanks everyone!

pedne vounder is a good walk from where we are going on saturday - Tower Park, St Buryan. It is on my list of "must walk to beaches", I read online somewhere that it is apparently an unoffical naturist beach. Whether it is or not it looks fantastic.
Tower Park is listed on this site and has great reviews.

Hi..we went to a site called Namparra last year.  Just a couple of miles from Lizard.  It was possibly the best site we have found.  Huge field, clean loos and showers, a good walk to kennack sands and spectacular views.

This year i think they've added a washer and dryer, but thats it.  The owners (who are great) want to keep it like it is, small, secluded and friendly. It only opened last July and we were sooooo lucky to drop on it!

It has a few reviews on the campsite search....so have a look, and they have a website too.

We booked again for this august for 3 weeks and are counting the days!!!!  And we've sent our booking form in already for NEXT year!!!

We spent three days at tower park last week in St Buryan, good site. All facilities you need there. If you stay in that neck of the woods I'd recommend you get fish and chipos from the square in St Just and drive down to Cape Cornwall with them to watch the sun go down and the light houses come on. One of my best things to do in Cornwall.

Hi apul, I agree with the Treen farm recommendation. It is near some gorgeous beaches (Penden Vounder, Porthcurno, Sennen which have to be amongst the best in England) and is indeed within walking distance of the Minnack Theatre (which is awesome to visit even if you don't catch a performance). It is about 1 mile along the cliff path and down to Porthcurno beach where you can access the theatre up some steps to the left hand side of the beach, there is also the telegraph museum which is worth a look. The Logan Rock Inn is a 5 minute walk from the site. We stayed a couple of nights in early July and had a couple of glorious days, but were battered by storms on the last day which was a bit of a nightmare up on the exposed cliffs. At least 1 tent had been abandoned in a heap next morning! The other down side is that you can't book, which may be a problem in the school holidays.

I can also recommend Gwithian Farm, but that is just north of St. Ives. It has a pub accross the road, really great shower facilities and is flanked by brilliant surfing beaches and sand dunnes. They also do cream teas in the garden of the thatched farm cottage. The cliff walk to Hells Mouth is lovely, past Godrevy lighthouse and you might even see some seals down in the water below. This and the crab sarnies at Hells Mouth cafe are worth the walk alone!

We also stay at Dennis Cove on the camel Trail in Padstow most years, it's an uncommercial site with great views and 10 minutes walk into the town with loads of great pubs and restaurants (Rick Steins fish n chips are to die for). But Padstow can get very busy in school holidays!!
