We're located in the midlands and are booked up to go to Scotland (Hoddom Castle), just over the border tomorrow for 4 nights, weather forecast looks awful,

http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=1659

Having 4 kids in between 13 and 2 should we brave it or would the moaning of the kids at being stuck in a tent with it raining put us off?

Make them do as they are told, cricky its cost you enough bringing them up, do what you want to do and enjoy your time away, try games and walks or search and find things, and when they are old enough to leave home then they can do what they want,I have two married kids and six grandkids and they all love the outdoor life.

Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.

According the the BBC forecast it has been raining here yesterday and today, but we haven't seen a drop of rain for weeks.

If I were you I would go for it and ignore the forecast.  You cannot get an accurate forecast in hilly areas, it can be glorious weather here when it is pouring with rain two miles down the road.  If it is raining where you are camping then you won't have to go far to find dry weather.

I think we'll be going, we've got relatives in Annan and they told us it was really nice today, and the forecast has been changing daily on the bbc and met office sites, it still looks like it'll be warm no matter what though. We were supposed to have had heavy showers down here too, mind you we did today, ah well 3 days late isnt bad for the weathermen.

Last July we booked a week away to Aberdeen, we were loading the car on the friday ready for a very early hours departure when all the floods hit the uk , we ummed and arrred for hours got some kip and decided to see what it was like when we got up, , when we got up the devastation was begining to come through the media, we decided that we would go, take t slow and just hope the rain would clear through the week and we would get some nice weather.  we did get there safe and sound although the weather wasnt summer weather and there was a bit of rain we thouroughly enjoyed it the kids enjoyed the campsite playing games reading walking and sight seeing.

What ever the weather im sure you will have a good time

My OH is up in Scotland, in Dunblane near Stirling, he was complaining about the heat yesterday! He's said they've had a bit of rain this am, but it is clearing up nicely. I would go if I were you.

DON'T GO - you won't like the Scots and you won't like Scotland.  The weather is awful, the air is full of midgies and the hills are running with wild haggis.  Many of the campsites have empty pitches - Oooops did I say that - Drat!

I was up north this weekend and the weather was fabulous, this year I refuse to look at weather forecast or I would never leave home.

My daughter and son in law drove their camper up to Oban for one night last Thursday, then moved to Arisaig for three nights and just had a phone call tonight from Uig Isle of Skye. The weather has been very warm and sunny, lets hope it holds out for them as they intend crossing the bridge and off up to Gairloch then Ullapool.

Got back yesterday and had mixed weather, light showers and heavy showers ;) Had a great time though, we did get a fair bit of dry weather but we were just putting up the tent and had the main part up when we got hit by a really heavy downpour, everybody took shelter apart from me, I was already soaked so carried on regardless, the sun came out then and dried me out beautifully, thunderstorm and really heavy rain one night left a few patches of water in the tent but nothing serious and it was dry when we broke camp so that pleased us no end, all in all a great time and I'd recommend the site (Hoddom Castle), really nice place.
