I live nearby, cant vouch for the site.

The Poachers pocket is located on a main road.  The closest access point to the canal would be at a small village called Burlescombe where there is parking and access to the towpath.  Its a very easy and quick drive of about 1.5 - 2 miles.  You exit the poachers pocket car park and turn left onto the main road as if heading towards Exeter then approx a few hundred yards down the main road take a right and head towards Burlescombe go past the Ashford Arms pub (by railway bridge) and then head through village until you get to another bridge (which goes over the canal) parking available on the left.

You can walk for miles if you head West you will go towards Tiverton, there is a nice pub at Sampford Peverell (next village on from Burlescombe) called The Globe, there is also a farm shop and golf driving range at Sampford Peverell.

no worries, I know what you mean.  You really are not that far from many access points to the canal, you can access at Burlescombe, Sampford Peverell, Halberton (another farm shop with cafe) and Tiverton.

Another couple of other places close to the poachers pocket for "walkies" with the dogs are - Culmstock Beacon (small high piece of moorland) you can actually see it from the main road the Poachers pocket is located on.  (ask the landlord for exact directions as its a more "local known" spot).  Also walks and woodland at Wellington Monument signposted off the main bypass road which runs on the outskirts of Wellington (as if heading towards Taunton).

Any more questions please ask as Im only a couple of miles away.
