Looking at both areas. Dont like busy or tacky areas. Looking for nice 2 week holiday with kids, lots of beach time and pool if weather is good. Worried north Devon will be windy but Cornwall a long way. Help? Can't decide!

Try Warcombe Farm in Woolacombe, been twice nice site, good shower/toilet block, site is a little sloping in parts but has plenty of flat areas.Very close to Woolacombe and its magnificent beach and fair bit to do if its wet but research area first.

Watermouth Valley Camoing and Caravan Park is ideal, just come back from there. Great site and so near to Ilfracombe and Woolacombe. Beaches in the area are fantastic.

Visited St Ives when we were down in Cornwall the past few weeks.  Very pretty, but didn't really like the place.thought it was a bit up itself, if you know what I mean!

There are many areas of Cornwall that are not tacky, the Roseland peninsular was very nice.

St ives is nice but very crowded in high season, Like scarletsfan says there are many pretty areas around,

Caravan club site at Looe has its own swimming pool and is very pretty,.

May be a good comprimise in between driving all the way to St Ives and Woolacombe!

From our house in the midlands we can get to Looe in just over 4 hours

We've just got back from Warcombe Farm near Woolacombe, whilst the campsite is very nice especially the the showers and a few very private pitches which looked nice. I do think its rather over priced, I know everywhere is expensive in the summer holidays but for our family (2 adults, 2 children) in a tent without EHU it was costing £28 per night!!! that along with having to pay £5 or £6 to park at Woolcombe or Croyde beach made it pretty expensive for a short camping break.

Also when booking at Warcombe Farm be aware you have to pay in full up front!

Saying that it is a lovely area and not quite as busy as I thought it'd be at this time of year.

Hate to say it but the 2 busiest places we have been to that stick in my mind are Woolacombe and St Ives!!

Both lovely though. We stayed at Easwell Farm http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results3.asp?search=easewell+Farm&by=sitename  part of the woolacombe bay group. OK but expensive. The C&CC club site right next door looked lovely. Think it is called Damage Barton http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results3.asp?search=damage+barton&by=sitename.

We have never stayed at St Ives (always a bit away). Polmanter http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results3.asp?search=Polmanter&by=sitename is fab - gets good reviews and we have been day visitors. Looks lovely. We want to go but never can book early enough.Their sister site at Carbis bay is Little Trevarrick http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results3.asp?search=little+trevarrack&by=sitename is also very popular.

Thanks - try to avoid busy places but does not seem possible in summer holidays.
