Hi we're new to camping got our tent and everything and planning to go somewhere in Machynlleth area in the next few weeks, just wondered what people normally do is it wise to book or do people just turn up, worried we might book for a week and if weather turns bad we'll be stuck there. We are 2 adults 2 children 1 dog in a 6 berth tent.
Any advice welcome.

Hi and welcome to UKCS.I would do a site search on here and read the reviews, decide where you want to try,  book for a couple of nights with a view to extending your stay if possible. If you decide to leave early due to the weather or some other reason it's unlikely you would get a refund from the site as they will probably have 'lost' the pitch for the nights you decided to go home early. With respect  what if campsites refunded everyone who decided to go home early?.I know we have a 'van but have stuck out some pretty cold and wet times(Easter this year?!),it's easy to say but just put up with any bad weather until enough is enough!. Good luck on your first trip.

Hi rowtom, we're new to this too and have planned our first trip out this Fri and Saturday night so lets hope for good weather in Northern Ireland. We're 2 adults, 2 kids, 1 dog as well so I'm eager to see how we get on...!
