Hi

We are looking to go down to Dorset in September, can anyone suggest a dog friendly site on the coast of Dorset, somewhere that really welcomes dogs and has walking on site.

Thanks

Hi Mildrid and welcome to UKCS

Have a search on the Camp Site Search at the top of the page. Under the advanced search tick the box for dogs. That should give you all the ones in that area you can take the dog to and you can read the reviews

Hope you find what your looking for

Seadown at Charmouth has direct access onto the beach, half of the beach is dog-friendly.

you cant really go wrong with Wareham forest Caravan park.  its not directly on the coast - but its a short drive away.  The best thing with Wareham Forest and dogs is that there are endless walks from your pitch (you dont have to get in the car to exercise the dog), lots of woodland trails and paths with direct access from the caravan park.

site facilities are top notch also...

I'll second East Fleet (Weymouth).

The dog walk runs alongside the Fleet Lagoon and you can also walk the coast path.  If you decide to go you'd probably be better off in the Lower Field as this is nearer the dog walk although a little further (but not much) away from the wash block in the Upper Field.

They also only charge a very nominal fee per dog.

Weymouth beach also allows dogs but at the pier/harbour end.

And I will second Wareham Forest!
Been there twice now, dog walks straight from your pitch, but also great for humans with a lovely outdoor pool and flat pitches, clean toilet block and lovely helpful staff.
Beware the snakes Our neighbour last year had 2 dogs and had to rush one to the vet last year after it was bitten by a snake, very nasty.
But we never saw one both times we went there.

You could look at Freshwater Beach http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=1205 we are going there again for the 2nd year next week . The only places you cannot take the dog is around the pool or in the club house. There is a field for dog walking or you can walk along the beach to the west to West Bay or over the cliffs to Burton Bradstock. We did both with ours but the walk over the cliffs to Burton Bradstock was the best, we turned inland once we reached it and went to the Three Horseshoes Inn www.three-horseshoes.com/index.php or or evening meal in the beer garden. They where very welcoming, we had 4 meals (2 adult 2 kids) & 8 drinks (4 pints & 4 soft drinks) all for less than £50 which I think is excellent value for excellent food large portions and the waitresses kept coming out with dog biscuits and a bowl of water, I cannot praise them highly enough, we will certainly be going there again & no I am not on comission!. We have a 2 year old Rottweiller who is just so comical to be around but as he is with the wife all of the time at home he will do as he is told from her and he loves the kids even when the are rough with him. He loves going for a swim but we learnt last year that if he has been in the sea to make sure he goes for a dip in the river or else you get a white Rotty when the sea water dries!
