Hi all,

was thinking of booking this site for a long weekend but was wondering about the walk into Coniston, I've read it will take 30-40 mins-not a problem but we have a 5 month old baby who will be in the pram.

Does any one know if the walk is pram friendly - styles etc.

Is there a path at the side of the A593 if we decided to walk along the road into coniston?

Thanks in advance.

It's about a mile and a quarter into Coniston along the road, the road is just wide enough for two cars with no footpath at the side of it for the half mile or so. But there is a footpath out of the site which cuts out this section of road, though the footpath is not very good. Alternatively you can get out of the site at the very bottom and onto a footpath which takes you across the fields to Coniston. It's a bit since I walked it so I am not just sure how pram friendly it is.

Should be an easy walk into coniston, path passes through another campsite then along a gravel path right in to the village, comes out by a small retail outlet type shopping complex. You don't need to go anywhere near the main road into Coniston.30-40mins VERY gentle stroll.

We often do this walk with our dogs.   There is a choice of routes.  Leave the top of the campsite (clearly signposted) and walk along the top of a field (good path and lovely views.)  Then - this is the slightly dodgy bit - you have to cross the main road on a bend and no footpath - then carry on along the old railway line (again a good path, no problem.)  Comes out at the back of Coniston.   There's a pub here, can't remember the name but you can't miss it, has a nice garden and outdoor eating area.

Or leave the campsite down at the bottom (steep walk), cross the tent camping area and follow the path that more or less follows the lakeside.  Comes out at the Coniston boat launch where there is a cafe etc but to reach the main part of the village you have to walk uphill a bit.  We usually go one way and come back the other.   Either way should be do-able with 2 plus pram but do be careful on that main road!
