We often do this walk with our dogs. There is a choice of routes. Leave the top of the campsite (clearly signposted) and walk along the top of a field (good path and lovely views.) Then - this is the slightly dodgy bit - you have to cross the main road on a bend and no footpath - then carry on along the old railway line (again a good path, no problem.) Comes out at the back of Coniston. There's a pub here, can't remember the name but you can't miss it, has a nice garden and outdoor eating area.
Or leave the campsite down at the bottom (steep walk), cross the tent camping area and follow the path that more or less follows the lakeside. Comes out at the Coniston boat launch where there is a cafe etc but to reach the main part of the village you have to walk uphill a bit. We usually go one way and come back the other. Either way should be do-able with 2 plus pram but do be careful on that main road!
