Has anyone camped here? Semi wild and free and miles from anywhere. Looks almost too good to be true and yet I can't find it listed here. Its in the coolcamping book my husband just bought me for my anniversary and I'd love to visit.

Im quite new to the site so there may be something glaringly obvious that I've missed!

I cannot remember seeing a site at Torridon but there is one not far away at Gairloch.

Not many sites in the area as it's wild camping country but theres one at Applecross and another at Loch Carron or the community site at Sheildaig or the Caravan Club site at Kinlochewe

Apparently its opposite the Countryside Centre? Also allowed a camp fire. Toilets and hot showers just outside the gate but owned by the site. All free.

Nobody even heard of it let alone stayed there!!?

Drive through a couple of times a year on my way to the ferry at Ullapool but I've never noticed it unless it's camp for people attending the course held at the centre.

Yes I think so! Wonder why it didn't come up when I searched? If we stay I'll be sure to leave a review!

That one gives the address as High Street, Dingwall.

Dingwall is a long way from Torridon, is it the right site?

Torridon is beautiful, if you can camp there you simply must.  It is stunning, quiet and unspoilt.  Applecross, Sheildag, and Loch Maree are also a must.

From what I can remember there was an "outdoor centre" with toilets etc in Torridon but never noticed a campsite.  Im sure Applecross have one though.

Dingwall is a long way from Torridon, is it the right site?

It's run by the Highland Council so maybe the Dingwall address is for the administrative office?

The grid ref for the actual site is NG 905 558, which is just off the A896 on the approach to the village of Torridon (look for the public conveniences apparently!)
