As usual we are last minute and fancy going away for BH weekend, most of the places that take reservations seem fully booked, does any one have any experience of arriving at a site that does not take bookings early on the friday. We are going to perhaps try Castlerigg, near Keswick.

Ideally we would have liked somewhere near Bamburgh / Seahouses, but dont fancy driving that far to fail, so we are gonna stay local I guess (Lakes).

Any advice welcome or recommendations for non reservable sites in either the lakes or the north east, thanks guys...!!!

What about Herdwick Croft, top end of Bassenthwaite? depends what you are looking for, you would have to drive to shops/pubs. Perfectly ok though.

We are having the same problem for the bank holiday weekend .. can't seem to find a space anywhere ..

Any ideas for a site in the cotswolds/oxfordshire area would be great ..

We hope you manage to find a site up there in the north ..

JKSara   have you tried just over the border?  Not that far up to Dumfries area or Berwick areas

Would be nice to know if you have found anywhere, I wouldn't just go on the offchance if I were you.

Castlerigg Hall just outside Keswick doesn't take tent bookings, so you might get in there.

It's a lovely site too!

We have been to Fisherground Farm a number of times and love it. They don't take bookings (or didn't when we went last year), worth giving them a ring to check.

No Mrs B haven't found anywhere, so sticking to the driving round on Friday morning plan.

Gailk, Thanks Castlerigg is one of the ones I intend to try,  only 40 mins to Keswick from me so I can be there early on Friday.

If you can't get into Castlerigg Hall there is Castlerigg Farm just across the road, they also don't take tent bookings.
