Can anyone recommend campsites on or near the Essex coast between Burnham on Crouch and Harwich. I'm looking at somewhere near to a sandy beach and good for children. I want to avoid those big places with evening entertainment. Found a few places on here that sound nice like Creeksea but the are booked up. We will be in a small VW camper. Any inland places not to far from the beach would also be good - esp if you dont need to book up. Thanks for any help.

You will strangle to find sand between burnham and harwich unless you stick to the likes of clacton, walton and frinton. These towns are rather comercial with the exception of frinton and cater more for static vans. Mersea island has a nice site at waldegraves but the sand is sparse and when the tide is out you will have two hundered yars of mud, But your in the mouth of an estuary. Is a nice site though with static and touring, clubhouse and out door pool
