Hi, off to Highlands End for BH week and wondered if anyone had been there lately?  A bit worried about the weather given the proximity to the coast!

O my goodness, we have just come back from there, and were relieved to be  going!!!

Whilst we were there we endured the worst winds ever and thought at one point we were going to be blown away (and we were in a caravan)!.

The poor tents didnt stand a chance and people were leaving after a couple of days into there holiday as their tent couldnt stand up. They were losing the money they had paid for their hol as the site refuses to give refunds for bad weather.

If high winds are predicted I would definatley aviod this site.  If indeed you are guaranteed great weather its one of the most spectacular sites, view wise, we have stayed on.

Sorry its bad news but I really wish we'd been warned before we wasted 1 week of our holiday and our sleep as we couldnt sleep at night!!

Was speaking to a friend of mine this afternoon whose daughter used to work at Highlands. She said how frequently people's tent get wrecked and that some mornings there would be quite a few bundled up and shoved into the rubbish skips. I wouldn't risk tenting there myself. The views are stunning but the winds are too. Don't know if the forecast is for windy weather this coming weekend or not but if so perhaps you might phone the site and see if they could accommodate you on one of their other parks in this area? Replacing a dead tent doesn't cost the earth but a ruined holiday isn't much fun.

They have 3 other parks in their group, one is also right next to the coast but at sea level rather than up on the cliff and the other two are slightly inland and more sheltered. I agree about the stunning views at Highland's End ... as long as there's no mist!

Very, very high up and absolutely no shelter.

With the weather we've had to endure this summer I would very seriously think twice before embarking on a tenting holiday at Highlands End.

As other posters have said, stunning views, on a clear day, from Portland Bill in the east to Torbay in the west but..............

Many thanks for all your replies.  Going to ask if we can change to one of their other parks because even though the weather looks better, we don't want to risk the winds and our tent!
