Can anyone suggest a campsite for families, with activities for children on M4 corridor between Severn Bridge and junction 7 of M4. Daughter down on site in North Devon, Golden Coast, nightmare! washed out and absolutely no help whatsoever from management - awning water logged, muddy smelly mess! They have complained till they are blue in the face but its like talking to the wall!! They are thinking of just packing and going home (which is in Slough). If anyone could suggest a really nice site on the way home from where she is, I might be able to tempt her! This is the only week's holiday that the children have (ages 8, 6 and 4). Any suggestions please...... urgent!!!
Many thanks, jill
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Lincoln Farm Park at Standlake Oxfordshire. Has indoor pool and great playground for children. Handy for the Thames and lots to do in the area. Very popular though.
Brokerswood Country Park near Westbury Wiltshire. Big country park with usual activities and campsite attached.

I can't imagine anywhere round here is much better though? The sun is shining in Bristol and it hasn't rained today but it's still pretty wet underfoot.
Can they not have a week of "holidaying at home" with the camping costs?

thanks for the replies. If she is up for it I will suggest the possibilities. I know what you mean piglet about holiday at home, but I suppose it doesnt seem like a holiday for the children, they get so excited about going away in the van! Her experience at golden coast is really awful. When they arrived the pitch was absolutely sodden, the office were supposed to be supplying bales of hay to put down put never happened so after waiting 4 hours (on top of 6 hour drive) they couldnt wait any longer and put down the groundsheet, obviously soggy muddy mess inside awning! I would have thought that the site would be prepared for this type of thing knowing this weekend would be particularly busy. Anyway, just feel for my daughter. Hopefully things may improve, if not will try to talk her into going elsewhere. Thanks again.
To be fair, the weather conditions that have hit sites all over the south west have been pretty awful. It isn't just being unprepared for a busy weekend - I was booked into a site on Dartmoor who rang and cancelled me as they had had solid rain for 3 weeks and the site was a quagmire. Other people have posted on this site about Golden Coast, so she isn't alone. I have children and I understand about their excitement - to be honest, she could pitch anywhere and they would be happy as it is the fun of camping that children like.
Why don't you make a list of numbers for her from the sites above or others or ring them youself to check availability and as she is in a caravan, request a hard-standing pitch? A known alternative can be a decision-making moment! Even if she manages a couple of nights, it will be better than nothing and the forecast for this week is really good.
Good luck, I hope she salvages the situation.
