Has anyone visited High Rigg Farm at Dalby Forest in North Yorkshire. What are toilet/shower facilities like? Any advice most welcome.

This might be a little late - um, initial post, August 2008!!! But we have been!!!! ANd i would like to share my experience!
Firstly, this is the toilet block...

The ladies has 2 toilets and a hand wash basin. There are 3 individual showers (unisex) and a washing up room with 2 sinks and a very warm radiator!

This is the view down into the camping field...

which was a very large field with tents pitched around the edges, brand new wooden 'pods' at the far end leaving all the space in the middle for cricket and football which everyone seemed to join in with!

This was our pitch...

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at High Rigg, which is at the top of a very steep hill - great cycling to the visitors centre and playground but hard work on the way back!

On the farm there are cows and pigs...

... and there are burgers and sausages avalable to buy from the farm house if looking at cows makes you hungry for BBQ food!!!

The site owner is ok, he does regular rounds to make sure everyone is ok but i felt reassured when i was told off by driving a little too fast through the farm, (rushing for the toilet!) i deserved it!!!

So, overall, the field is huge, with a very slight slope, the toilet block is VERY clean if a little small but never had to queue for the toilet or the shower. EHU for tents is limited so book early if you are a glamper. Take your bikes, there's much to explore! Will definately go again.

Hi Emma,

Whereas William200200 had a bad experience unfortunately, whereas we had a lovely weekend camp at High Rigg. The toilet shower block is updated from the above photos and found them to be very clean, looked liked they had been recently tiled and painted as well, with handrolls and plenty of loo roll. There are two washing up sinks at one end of the block, male toilets(sorry can't comment on these!)and two female toilets and three showers.

Couldn't decide if the farmer was very straight laced or had a very dry sense of humour, I'm guessing he's probably had to be stricter because it is a working farm. For example he stated that the kids shouldn't go near the bullocks which were looking out onto the campsite, but then can understand this rule. Also it is surrounded by forest, therefore in summer there are more fire risks so again understandable if he's been stricter about bbq's etc.

This is a Caravan club CL site, therefore is small with simple facilities, ideal for biking or walking in Dalby Forest.

Best wishes Sam
