We've been to Dunstan Hill Camping and Caravanning Club site, at the end of July this year.
Facilities were excellent, electric hookups, clean toilets, hot showers, dish washing sinks with piping hot water, chem disposal, think there's a laundry but didn't use it, plenty drinking taps around the site and rubbish bins.
Childrens play area, but still found it to be quite peaceful (don't have kids ourselves).
WE found it to be more expensive than other sites, maybe because it's a CCC site!
Wardens were friendly and very helpful.
You can hop on a bus to Embleton, which you flag down just outside the campsite entrance and have a drink in the local pubs, think there were 3 pubs in total.
Fairly close to Alnwick approx 7 miles, we also visited Holy Island.
Northumberland well worth a visit, or two or three!
