Just returned from a three night stay at Clippesby, following the numerous positive reviews seen on this site. Likely to be returning next year.
However I am looking to doing another trip perhaps during the Whitsun half term holiday. Therefore I am currently searching for a site of similar standard to Clippesby, I know that it won't be easy.
Lincoln Farm in Oxford has caught my attention. Be interested to hear from anyone has stayed at both campsites. Also like to hear to from anyone (who have also stayed as Clippesby) that has some alternative suggestions.
Site must be no more that a 3 hour drive from Chelmsford in Essex, it must have good toilet / shower facilities and have preferably have some things on site for the children to do.
Regards
Simon

You could try Heathland Beach at Kessingland. It is ideal for the beach, has a great swimming pool, nice bar, good childrens playground and good toilets.
A group of us have been to both Clippesby and Heathland, and Heathland is now our campsite of choice.

Some people are just all show. I don't mind that if the show is worth watching, but .....
Johnjory - I have already used the search functionality extensively. Here my question was quite and involved the experiences of people of have visited Clippesby.
We stayed at Clippesby for 4 nights at the beginning of July. We absolutely loved it. We stayed at the Heath and loved all the pine trees and country feel of the site. However, we did not have any children to cater for, just us two and the dog.
Unfortunately due to the weather we haven't been away since then. As this was our first camping trip we cannot give any thoughts on any other site that may be similar but will be watching the replies you get as we too would like a site of similar standard and with the same lovely setting that Clippesby is in.
Hope you find what you are looking for.

Checked out the site - looks pretty good. Once thing does concern me a little though. It says that the campsite is right on the edge of the cliffs. I have a 4 year old do this worries me somewhat. Also there is not really any mention of how big the tent pitches are - I have quite a big (not massive) tent.
Perhaps you would be kind enough to comment on these points?

Quite right, it IS right on the cliffs but not many of the pitches are because of the erosion in this area. You don't sound like the sort of person that would let a four year old out of your sight - we first went there when our son was four and it wasn't a problem. He was all over the place on his little BMX bike!
As far as pitch size is concerned I think you have to discuss this with the site. I'm not qualified to comment except suffice to say that if a pitch can take a large caravan and awning, I would have thought that you would be OK with your tent.
Haven't stayed at Clippesby although we did go and look at it when staying at Bureside a few years ago. We have, however, stayed at Heathland Beach. I don't have any info on internet access but the pitches are huge and the field we camped in has a children's play area in the centre so we could sit outside our tt and watch our grandson at the same time. We had a conway coniston with extended awning and sun canopy at that time and still had room on our pitch for the car. We did tell them the size of our unit when we booked. The only thing I would mention that the site advertises beach access - this is quite true but it is at the bottom of a very steep flight of steps - not near to the pitches so safe for the children but not easily accessible unless you are very fit!!

See that you have not done a review on Bureside, how did you find it? We stayed at Clippesby this year and found it overpriced and squelching around for a week on a very muddy pitch and came across Bureside when out and about and their pitches were well drained. We have also stayed at Heathland and have to agree with your comments on there but again have found that their site fees are now more than I wish to pay.
