I was just wondering if anyone can recommend a campsite near Cheltenham Racecourse for the Festival in March (11th March - 14th March 2009).
Ideally we would prefer to camp, but we don't mind staying in a static caravan. During the festival local hotels charge £140 per night, which is a bit out of our price range!
I would go for Briarfields. It's closest to the racecourse. The others are quite a way out of town, and the traffic trying to get to the racecourse along those routes is horrendous.

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
I live near Cheltenham and Briarfields is I think the only one within 4 miles of the racecourse. It is just off the M5,Junction 11, signposted Cheltenham and easy to get to. If you didn't want to drive to the races you can get a bus near to the site into Cheltenham (about a mile and a half) and then get a regular bus out to Prestbury. I think there are special buses running from the town centre but not being a racegoer I am not certain of that. It is not a huge site so I would book quickly if you decide on that one
There are buses from the town centre to the Racecourse, and also one that runs from the train station. It might be difficult to park at the station, though. Definitely if you go for Briarfields you need to book now. Accommodation is already being advertised for the Gold Cup, so be quick.
The Briarfields motel rooms are abit too expensive for me, because a double is £189 per night, and minimum 4 night stay - and we were only looking to stay 2.
Really appreciate the feedback, but it looks like it will have to be the travelodge in Cheltenham at £140 per night - and they have not got many rooms left.
