I want to get up around Polzeath or Padstow area, near the Camel trail. To have a 10 day break. I have searched the sites in the arae listed in Campsite Search. But wondered if anyone has got recent info, not yet on that site. We would like possibly a swim,(pool) and even nicer a village pub in walking distance, (or a bar on site)

Theres a campsite actually in Polzeath with a lovely veiw over the bay & walking distance to pubs/shops. the downside is that the campsite is expensive & the showers/toilets aint up to much & theres no pool.
I can't give any suggestions other than the ones recommended/listed on this site sorry, but here in Devon pretty much every site has it's own paddling/swimming pool at the moment, whether they want it or not!
We go to the campsite mentioned two posts above every year - it's really dear but once you are there you don't move because you don't need to!! But there's no pool or anything and you are cramped. We go there because we love the beach and bodyboarding and if you don't love those two things then there's really no point in going to that campsite specifically. We spend all our time on the beach and then get a coffee / donuts / pastie or takeaway. There is a crazy golf course and bungee jumping usually on the bit of grass infront of valley campsite which is the other campsite in Polzeath - don't know how dear and no sea view. I could name every shop on the road now as there aren't that many and the spar is ok but it's hard to keep shopping there for a week to be honest as stuff is dear and fresh fish are completely invisible and there is dearth of fresh fruit and veg which is a shame.
The other site we go on is near Cubert - called Trebellan, it's got an outside pool and is next to a lovely pub called The Smugglers Den which has a thatched roof - now it's not cheap there either but it's got both things you are looking for. I know it's not that near the Camel trail but it's not that far either and we wanted a site that was small with a pool but not much else and had fishing lakes too and this was it. You can walk to Cubert where there's a Londis. When we went on the camel trail we stayed at the CC site at Bodmin - I thought you would have been able to bike to the trail off road but you can't so we still ended up parking in Bodmin - free on Sundays and biking to Wadebridge and back.

You could try Gunvenna which is between Polzeath and Wadebridge, has an indoor swimming pool and is quite reasonably priced out of high season, within walking distance of a pub which serves food. Cost us £12.50 last year start of July.
Hi Debsy, I shall definitely try some of that invisible fresh fish. I could do with losing a few pounds weight. Only joking!! Have looked at the Trebellan site, seems rather nice. Thanks to you, and Anne for the ideas. I am now spoiled for choice, and youve saved me hours of trundling around site info. Regards,
Yes it is ok Trebellan - on the review I did I said it was a bit loud - our kids were younger then and I think there must have been quite a few teenagers that time - since then we have been twice and it's been fine but now our kids are 12 and 11! This year they had a fish and chip van three times a week as well plus during the day a smoothie van came round which was pretty cool!! The pool's not massive but ok - we like it as my lad likes fishing and there's no arcades or entertainment to speak of - just fishing and pool as extras to basic site really. Mmm invisible fresh fish - no codding!! You have to go to Port Isaac!

Oh yes, Port Isaac is lovely, where Doc Martin is set, so is Tintagel, you don't have to go in the castle, go on the beach and see the waterfall. Padstow is good too. Polzeath beach is huge and the tide rushes in, the best view is actually at New Polzeath.
