Hi all,
We Stayed at Ladram Bay in Devon during the second week of August. As with everywhere else this season it absolutely threw it down and the ridges pitches we were on had about 4 inches of standing water on them. As you can imagine this was deep enough to overcome the top of my 2 year old's wellies and the bedroom groundsheets of tents etc and it was miserable for a lot of people. The Campsite staff did as much as they could and supply mats and plastic walkways and re pitch most that were affected.
My question is this, on newly developed pitches (cut into a clay hillside and grassed over) is it fair for the site to purely put this down to the weather or are they responsible for ensuring the pitches drain correctly? Once we were re pitched it was clear that the older established pitches were not suffering any standing water. Has anyone else suffered similar problems at other sites?
It is a fantastic site (and we will go back!) and with the facilities on offer it can rain all day and not spoil the holiday too much, however trenchfoot can seriously hinder the holiday!
