I'm thinking of taking my canoe on a couple of family weekends to North Wales and the Lakes (not at the same time!). Trouble is I don't know many sites, other than Glanllyn in Bala, that have access to a lake or nice river from their site.
Does anyone have some suggestions for suitable sites please?
Here's hoping.
Thanks

I would be interested as well. We have stayed at Glan Llyn which is a lovely site We used our dingy on days that they weather permitted. However, we've not long bought a canoe, and would love to find a site, within about 2 hours from Liverpool were we could use it.
Fforest Fields near Builth Wells in Mid Wales has a 'man-made' lake which people use for dingies, kayaks and swimming - it is a lovely site. May be a bit out of your search area though. Sarah x
If the weather continues... we are going to re-classify ourselves as the 'Lake District'!! My wellies are getting webbed as they evolve to the weather :(
I dont think there are many caravan parks (assuming you are using your van) near lakes in snowdonia. I would imagine planning permission would be hard to come by. There is one alongside the Conwy river called cwmlanerch. I don't know anything about it apart from what it says on their website.
If it is camping in a tent then there will be a few more possibilities. Sorry I can't be of more help.

We've just returned from a campsite near to Chester called Netherwood. The site has direct access to a Canal and our neighbours brought along their canoes. It's a great site, I've left a review but it's no good if you have children as it is adult only.
Its a beautiful location. The area gets its fair share of midges in the summer months, but they seem to be everywhere this summer - the rain might have something to do with that.
You could Try Lucksall caravan park Mordiford near Hereford , adjacent to the river Wye ,they have large pitches by the river ,also have a conoe launching area , the fishing is excellent , allthough you feel like you are in the middle of no where , you are only 15 mins away from Hereford town centre
