We have booked a day off work to probably go on our last camping trip of the "summer" next weekend, but can't decide where to go!
We don't want to drive more than two hours from our home near Kingston in Surrey as we're only going for 2 nights. As the weather may not be ideal, somewhere within walking distance of at least a good pub serving food, preferably easy walking distance to a village too. We are young couple with a tent and prefer smaller, quiet sites - basic ammenities are fine as long as there is a toilet and shower.
At the moment the best idea we have is the New Forest. We'd love to hear suggestions for sites here or any other area, we really are looking for ideas.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
I was going to suggest the New Forest!!! We are in Berks and it is like our second home at the moment, walks from your caravan step, and really good pubs - the Hare and Hounds at Sway is one of the best, an easy drive from Matley Wood and very close to Setthorns (both no facilities sites so you would need a toilet tent, other sites nearby do have facilities but never been to them)
What about south Kent? We stayed at Norwood Farm campsite which is peaceful and clean, very friendly.
Also Pevensey - Fairfields Farm is nice.
My first choice for a weekend of walking and pubbing though would be the New Forest!!!! We'll be back again soon! If you see us in the pub, we're the ones with a black fluffy collie and a blond lurcher!
If you get a wriggle on down the M3 (or A31 if you prefer) then the Isle of Purbeck is possible in 2 hours. I've done it many a time from Wimbledon without breaking any speed limits.
