Hi

We have booked to go here in the half term school holiday. Firstly are we mad what is it like in England in October in a Tent? Secondly has anyone been here and knows of any good walks for our dog.

It is a lovely site, there are quite a few reviews here It's on the edge of a beautiful little village and in the middle of some lovely countryside. Mad to go in a tent in October? This year you were probably mad to go anytime - so October shouldn't be any worse!

We have camped in October in our tent a few years ago. It was very cold and frosty at night but we then had beautiful sunny, warm days.We always camped at Easter and that is similar to weather in October. As for this year, surely it can't keep raining. Hopefully by October the ground will have dried out and we'll have some late sunshine - the indian summer that has yet to happen?!

I'm not sure about walks but I can recommend a visit to Dukertons Cider farm for a bottle or 2 of black fox cider.  It is just the other side of the village.  It will help you forget about the cold, I promise Have fun.

Brilliant, I have looked at the reviews and tips, not sure cider house is a good idea with walking the dog but I am sure I can give it a go. Went to Cornwall in the summer and it never stopped raining so being cold will be a nice change.

I havent stayed at this site but i did visit it earlier on in the year as some friends were staying there, it was a lovely looking campsite , well looked after , and the little village of pembridge was fantastic with its oddly shaped structures and quaint streets it was a great place to visit.
On the site was a great butchers fantastic meats to be bought there.
As for tenting in october , i did it once, stayed in Brecon for a UKCS meet, it rained the whole time i was there, had a leaky tent, but we had a small heater so kept warm. if i was tenting it still then i probably wouldnt do it again it was most def an experience lol

The good thing is Townsend has superb drainage ! and a heated shower block !

Great site ! try the local butchers at the bottom at the entrance their locally produced lamb is lovely
