 There are hundreds in the south of england they are called cl:s or cs:s, but you have to join one of the 2 big clubs to use them, depending how often you camp you will soon recoup your mem/ fee.

Second that, we stayed in south Devon for a fortnight for our main holiday and the most we paid was £8 but you have to check the facilities, we have our own in the caravan and only need ehu.

West Waylands caravan and camping park ,looe cornwall. We paid 13.50 per night. Folding camper, 2 adults, 2 children ,electric, plus a dog, in august. Lovely quite  site,small shop, clean toilets, play area, dog walk, large pitches. This year we have been 3 times ,love it.

They are all over Madeleine, sure there are plenty in Hampshire and Sussex. You would need to join the Camping and Caravan Club as you say, only £30 odd per year, then you get a book of sites (and other info), including their CSs (Certificated, or is it Certified sites, never can remember) and also use their website to look them up, but quite often you have to phone to book these sites.

I havent stayed there, but think Ecclesden Farm near Angmering in West Sussex is pretty cheap, if I remember rightly and think the reviews are ok.  You are close to the A24, so can get there easily from Pompei and also easy to get to Brighton and London.

That's a long way from Italy (sorry!)
