Thinking of going to the Peak District next year traveling from Gateshead.
Me the wife and two kids ( Both girls 3&7 years old ).
We like sites that aren't to big, don't like club houses or kids clubs. It would be nice to be able to walk into a village with a couple of pubs. The girls are happy as long as they can get outside and play safely.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
there are obviously quite a few good sites in peaks, our favourite is lickpenny, 5 mins from matlock, it is a big site, but no club house or kids club, altho plenty for kids to do. there are a few pubs nearby, but not really in walking distance, depending how far yer prepared to walk that is?

We spent 2 weeks in October this year at the CC site at Castleton. 10 min walk into town or 15 mins the other way into Hope. Not a large site and has all the usual CC facilities. Castleton has 6 pubs and several Cafes and gift shops. Hope 2 pubs, Spar and a couple of Cafes. Great area for Walking. Several of the mines are within walking distance.
depends what sort of things you are looking for karen, town, quiet countryside etc etc
i would come up the m5 and m6 and then onto a50 at stoke but this really depends on where you are going to. im sure someone else will have a better suggestion
------------- why is there so much month left at the end of the money?
We travelled M5, M42, A42 & M1 with our 640 Avondale Argenti, easy route. Then followed the Caravan Clubs directions to Castleton. (Approx 8 miles from Buxton)
Last time we went to the Peak District we went through Ashbourne, but we were in a car then. Peter didn't fancy towing our caravan that route (we stayed in Youlgreave)
We're flexible on where we stay because we want the journey to be easy (no sense of adventure these days)
You can do the M6, M60, M67 to the Glossop area. This will lead you onto the A57 (Snake Pass) which is a major road. This will get into the north Peak District
You can also get off the M60 at Stockport and take the A6 to Buxton, Chapel en le Frith or Whaley Bridge area. Again, this is not a bad road.
