Stevenpu,
Let me give you a bit of advice, we were regular visitors to Faskally with our family and friends for many years when we camped, during the week it was reasonably quiet after dark but, when the weekends come it can be quite noisy with people coming back from the bar etc. I'm not trying to be "killjoy" by any means but, for families with young kids it would be pretty hard to get to sleep. Three years ago we bought a Caravan and continued to go with our friends etc., they have now decided they will NOT be going back for the reasons mentioned above. We have all been going to Blair Castle for our weekends away and the difference is like "night and day". It's an absolutely fantastic site with equally nice views of the surrounding hills etc. and the site wardens regularly patrol the site to make sure noise after dark is kept to a reasonable level.
Although Blair Castle doesn't have a bar etc. on site there are a few pubs/restaurants outside the main entrance where you can have drink and good food, the Atholl Arms in particular is excellent and only 5 minutes walk from the site.
So, to answer your question, Blair Castle, without question every time.
Regards
Jamsie

Have been to Faskally several times, twice in 2008 , always really enjoyed it, found it to be really friendly, would not hesitate to go back. Very relaxing and if there was excessive noise it was dealt with, but cmon people are on holiday , dont think its too much to ask to be able to sit at night in awning and have a couple of drinks with like minded people, (which is one of the things I enjoy about Faskally !!) the pub is not exactly next to the touring field , and you dont have to use the pub if you dont want to but have had some good nights in there , also a nice courtyard area outside for sitting. Kids at Faskally always seem to be having a great time, plenty room to play, and I have never heard anyone complaining about noise, I will definetely be returning next year again,In my opinion, being wakened at 7am by noisy kids is a lot worse than the noise of people ENJOYING themselves, thanks for the tip !!!
