We are taking our motorhome to Scotland in May/June for three weeks and would like any ideas on 'must see' areas and 'must do' drives. We like to stop 2/3 nights max at each site and will be taking our bikes for some gentle exercise.

You don't say whereabouts in Scotland you'll be touring, but if you're over on the west coast side of the Highlands try the Arisaig area. We stayed at Invercaimbe campsite - on here in campsite search - the end of the site comes right onto the beach and the scenery is to die for. The white sands of the Morar estuary are only about 4 miles away, again absolutely beautiful scenery, and the drive along the coast road gives stunning views.

Thanks Tigermouse. We were planning to start at Luss on Loch Lomond and move north west to Oban , Skye and then across to Grantown on Spey before coming back south to Loch Tay

Must see?

Definitely the A82 across Rannoch Moor and Glencoe, one of the best stretches of scenic driving in the country in my opinion.

Just about anywhere on the west coast is special, if you take the Road to Mallaig heading for Arisaig, as others have mentioned, check the times of the Jacobite Steam Train from Fort William to Mallaig, pick a scenic spot and grab some fab pictures.

If you are a CC member - Bunree Cc site at Onich, lovely setting, as is Morvich. On Skye there is a new C&CC site which looks good. Rather than Grantown I would stay on the Glenmore Forest site - much more spectacular setting.
Haven't mentioned the hills - if you hill walk you will be in 7th heaven. Get yourself a book of Munros - you could bag a far few with that itinerary, or just do lots of Corbets if you prefer lower walks.

If you can, I would visit Perth. Its a beautiful city and very, very clean.   Also the Ayrshire coast is very nice from Largs down to Girvan.   Lots of nice views. Culzean Castle has a C&C site too.

Must sees for me would be Glencoe, Arisaig, Wester Ross and Durness.  All of these areas are truly outstanding for scenery and the beaches around Wester Ross and Durness are stunning!

brownsfriend, best to keep an eye on the december photos in trivia, theres some lovely photos of Scotland that might give you some good ideas of places to visit

How about the NE! Stunning deserted beached, moantains, lochs, castles, distilleries and more.  Alot miss it heading for the usual tourist tick list, but few realise what they are missing.

I made a short stopover in Portmahomack last year and it was lovely to the extent I might just risk the north east again next year, which for a west coast girl is praise indeed

Perfect spot but most folk miss it.

Scenery, a marvellous dialect and friendly people.  We return year after year.

We normally head for Silverbank CC site at Banchory, then on up to a council run site in Fraserburgh.

A beautiful area.
