Sorry but the Caravan Club advanced booking system is completely rubbish.  One of the main reasons that the servers cannot take the hits is because there is no deposit required therefore everyone just books all the best places (whether they are going to turn up or not) straight away as soon as the web site becomes available, so everyone hits it at once.  Some people say you get sent off for 4 non shows but I don't know about that.  Don't seem to have this problem at the C & CC where a deposit is taken but that doesn't mean that the most popular sites don't get booked up first but not ususally on the first day the web site becomes available, at least you have a chance of booking somewhere you want to go after 17th December.

I don't think this is a very fair system atall.

Ah yet another one who wants the CC to have more empty pitches on their sites when people fail to show and do not cancel their booking. The CC stated quite clearly that when they did away with deposits the number of bookings rose and the number of no shows fell, it's not rocket science to understand that this being the case they are not going to bring back a deposit system just because on one or two days of the year the impatience of some of their members to be first in the queue to book pitches for the summer siezes up the works. As to fairness it is the only truly fair sysem that I have ever found, any member can book any pitch that has not already been taken, they do not need to be able to pay months in advance they just need to pay when they arrive. The whole system depends upon the deceny of people and in general the people who use it respond favourably to that need.

We won't book until probably March and then we will pick an area and then a site. If that site cannot fit us in then we will either move our dates (I know that this is not always possible for some people) or change our area of choice, such is the beauty of having a caravan.
