I know not many people like the Haven sites but my kids love them, I want to know if any of the ons in Lancashire are good for the touring caravan. I only got my van at the end of last year so don't want to go to far.

We enjoyed cala gran but as you say for some reason not all enjoy haven. weve also used haven sites in north wales (Hafan y mor)and Lakeland in lake district and have enjoyed these too. these are alsonot too far away from you.
I have also visited the Blackpool site while the illuminations were on with the grandchildren. I have always found haven sites excellent for providing activities for children although cleanliness in toilet and shower blocks do not always seem to be of a high standard. The grandchildren love these sites.
Lakeland at Flooburgh - touring bit can be a bit it and mis for pitches and tends to get waterlogged. The road to it can be a bit of a challange if you haven't been towing long but then I don't drive so was looking at it from the passengers seat (still find that road none too good even without the van on)
We went to cleethorps one about 10 years back and that was a nice one
Please bear in mind that we were new to all this campinglark and didn't know any better
Edited to add : there are lots of sites that aren't Haven that have things for the children - activities and entertainment - if you have a look at the campsite search. Some not too far from you if you don't want to go far or off the 'main' roads
OK as you say most on here dont like Haven and thats that but i do so , Marton Mere is a nice site .Theres some nice walks around the mere the site is a good one the toilet and shower blocks are nice and clean and as long as you know that Haven like to extract as much money as they can during your stay and you can get your kids head round that then all the Haven sites for tourers ar good.
My only negative about this site is that the caravans are a little to clse together compared to other sites that we have visited ,for weekends its great a full week maybe not!!
Hope this helps

Personally, I think it's a case of "horses for courses". When I take my 10 year old grandson, I generally look for somewhere like Haven or Park Resorts where I can be sure of plenty for him to do. On the other hand, when just my husband and I go alone, we look for a quiet site, preferably with fishing.
Haven't been to any of the Northern sites but we have had good holidays at Burnham on Sea and Doniford Bay. Maybe you could look for a good deal for a weekend only and try them out?
