We have decided to venture over the bridge to Wales for the first time for our June trip...  Bit scary, but as we're fellow Celts, hopefully the natives will go easy on us...

Have booked at Brynich Caravan Club Site - from the reviews here and elsewhere (shame on me...) looks to be a really good site.

Any other opinions than the reviews would be good....

Where should we visit - and where not to bother.  Only the two of us and the dogs - so don't need theme parks....

Dave

The area is fantastic.. can't comment on the site itself but thought you might find this website useful for things to do in the area.  Brecon itself is nice to have a wander round.. there is South Wales Borderers regimental museum there which is especially interesting if you like the film Zulu. My favourites in the area are the mountain centre.. lovely views and walks and nice food and Castle Carreg Cennen.. a proper storybook castle ..more great views. Hope you have a great time! Hi Dave

We stayed at Brynich last year for a couple of nights.  Fab site, well run and wonderful views from most pitches.

Dog walk on site (although very muddy last year!!).  They say there's a doggie friendly pub within walking distance but it's a grotty place.  The Barn Restaurant (next to the site) is lovely though. You can't take dogs in though unfortunately.  Food in the evenings was expensive but lunches were great.

The walk into Brecon is easy and flat, along the canal towpath.  Plenty to see and do 'in town' for a day.  Plenty more to explore along the canal in the other direction too.

Can't help with where else to visit coz we didn't move our camper, just stayed local.

If you want to check out some of our photos from the site and Brecon go to our blog and the September 2007 section.

Enjoy Brecon and the surrounding area.

We have stayed here many times but not since the CC took over so it will be nice to go back and see if there are any changes. The area is great if you like exploring the great out doors. In Brecon itself there are a few great chippies! As for the local pub, I don’t know if this is the same one Kernowcamper refers to, but if you leave the site by the back entrance and walk down the lane you reach a great little pub that was far from grotty. It did fab food but don’t know if it was doggy friendly.

Thanks for the info.  Certainly looks a good site -looking forward to it.

Been checking best routes - some show going via A40 right through Abergavenny, but others seem to be bi-passing, via A465.  Is there a problem with towing through Abergavenny - looks simplest route ?

Just do not forget your passports. Illegal immigrants get impounded with the sheep.
