hi dont know about the Merrixton house but the the temp hol ccc at bodwelyn fields in llandduno north wales is on the seafront and you dont need a car for that one its a great rally
hi beefysmum, i know this site well. there is no bus servive.s a good mile walk down a steep roadway to the nearest beach-wisemans bridge and not a particularly safe one if you have children.
Recently stayed at Merrixton, there is a bus stop a very short walk from the site entrance, times of different routes were available from stewards, I went to Tenby it was £5.15 return took 40 mins & went a very scenic route.Enjoyable day had!

It's one of the ccc temporary holiday sites , in Amroth near tenby. Has anyone been here? I can't find it on the search here at all.
I don't think all THSs are on registered camp sites as such, which is maybe why it wasn't on the site directory here. I was going to go to a THS that was cancelled - when I drove past, it was a farm yard used for caravan storage. But if there's another THS that you fancy, do check for reviews as some are on set-aside parts of registered sites.
We stayed on Middle Hill Farm, Manorbier a couple of years back. Its a C&CC Cs, and I would recommend it. Not too far to walk to the beach or shops, and there is a bus to go into Tenby. Owners are very friendly and helpful too. I wrote a review of it on here at the time.
------------- Best Regards,
Colin
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
I'd recommend Wynd Hill Hideaway (was known as Wynd Hill Farm) on the edge of Manorbier. Russel and Lyn keep a really tidy site and very reasonably priced.
It's become our go to site for short notice breaks as well as longer holidays. Loads to do near by and being on the bus route it's easy to get about if you don't drive.
Only about 20 pitches but half of them have electric hook up.
The Tenby bus stops at the bottom of their paddock (don't go right into the village - it's the one next to the turn for Skrinkle Bay); or there's the railway station about a mile away (not a great walk along the road with kids, though).
10 minute walk to the pub, cafe and post office. 15 minutes to the beach and castle.
