Hi. We're planning a camping trip for Whitsun week and thought we'd head to Bude and visit family. We're looking for a clean, scenic, family friendly site in the nearby area. Ideally, not too big and loud. Our daughters are 11 and 12. We'll probably spend most of the time on the beach - as long as the weather's good. Somewhere where the pitches are good (grassed), there's a shop on-site, clean toliets/showers. Anybody recomend anywhere? Let us know why it's so good please. Many thanks.
Neil

we took our 10 year old grandson to hedley wood near bude last year, its not loud all singing etc, but it does have small bar on site that does food, and a games room next door, it has a shop on site, and if you pitch at the top of the site the views are lovely, and the toilets are newer than the ones near the bottem pitches, they also have a pets corner, and a huge dog meadow. Penny ps there is a huge meadow for campers near the dog meadow with ehu, if its dry looks lovely.
We live in Bude and although we've not stayed on any of our 'local' sites we have had friends and family down who have tested out the majority of them. In my view the best site around here is Wooda Farm as suggested by POWs.
Where ever you stay enjoy our lovely area!

Penny, thank you for your recommendation, we'll take a look at Hedley Wood. You mention Dog Meadow - is it full of dogs and subsequent additions? If we go for it, where would you suggest we request for our grass camping pitch? Electricity isn't crucial.
Yet more votes for Wooda. I've sent them an email. Checking on availability. Thanks for all your help. If we go Donna, might do, what were you thinking? Who's in your party?
Angie, I'll take a look at Willow Valley. Have you stayed there?
Another thought. The John Fowler site at Widemouth Bay - a couple of miles south of Bude - seems to be offering great internet deals at the moment. 60% off usual prices. I popped in our dates - 8 nights over Whitsun - and it was £102 all in. that includes pitch, facilities, entertainment, indoor pool etc. Anybody stayed there? We've passed it in the car and it's in a beautiful spot high on the cliff. Seems like a good deal for a busy week. Can't see Wooda - or anybody - can compete with that. Mind you, is that because it's a little...better be careful...and diplomatic (apologies) chavvy?
Hi.Try Budemeadows. We've done 3 years there and can't fault it. it has an outdoor pool, small bar, park, games park(large chess etc),games room and is really clean and tidy. it's not too big,has minimal noise at night and is 2 mins drive from Widemouth bay beach which has a cafe and loo's with parking for about £4.00 all day.Check out the reviews.
