Hi. Yep I'm looking at Scotland

There's so many sites but no reviews. I want to start at Balloch. I've booked Perth, So starting from there up to meet the OH in Aberdeenshire head north. Well kinda like Rosemarkie then Lands end across the top and dowm the west coast.

Anyone out there got any Gems ?

I NEED to emphasise I don't do basic. So forget 6amp hook up and the site needs to be within walking distance of a pub and everything must be dog friendly

Hi Cath

There is a nice campsite in Balloch think its called Lomond woods someone in here stay next to it so sure they will be along to help. We have used it a couple of times in the past and cant fault it. Within 200 yards of site entrance is a pub, chinese and a mcdonalds and within a mile you will finds loads of pubs and resturants and shops.

If you dont fancy that one there is a forest holiday one on LL side not stayed there also another forest holiday one just outside Aberfoyle (cobleland) its basic but has everything you need and a gentle flat walk to town and you will find lovely pubs and shops about a mile.

Hope this helps to get you started anymore info needed just ask.

Gerry

Hi Cath, unless mistaken (not stayed there), Rosemarkie is a bit out in the wilds. The site at Dingwall is right by the town (opposite Ross County football stadium), so it might be better if you want to be in that area for a couple of days. That said, I didn't like the town very much (renamed Dingewall), but it's a handy centre for touring.

Hiya, We have just booked Rosemarkie for August for 12 nights - we went last year for 5 nights and it really was hard to leave, the site is quiet, but clean and its right on the beach side, just the small single track road between your pitcth and the sea.  It is between Rosemarkie 1/4 mile strole and Fortrose 1 mile walk.  Chanary Point is a 1 mile walk to a lighthouse, the dolphins can be seen here, it is out of this world.

Rosemarkie has a pub, a restaurant, small shop, museum, beach side cafe (summer only), Fairy glen walk.

Fortrose has a couple of pubs, butchers co op, a lovely small bistro called Edith Dubh, which does a early bird 2 courses for £10, it was outstanding quality, and Penelope Keith lives locals she came in for a meal whilst we where there.

If I was looking for a life change I would move to Rosemarkie, its got my vote.

Cheers Shirley
