Hi - we are looking for a site to take our tent.   We would like to be near (ie 20 mins drive) a good leisure pool.  One that has slides and what not.

We need a playground on site and hope to be within an hours drive from Halifax.  We dont mind cities or countryside.  Just need a few things to do/ see.

Has anyone any ideas of a nice site.   We know the Doncaster Dome is a possibility - does anyone know of a good site near Donny?     Are there any good sites near leisure pools out Burnley way?

If we went further afield - up to 2 hours away from Leeds say - can anyone suggest a really good leisure pool?

We went to Waterworld in York with slides etc. last year which was nice. It was right by the park and ride we used. It's not huge - it has 3 slides I think, a wave pool, rapids and a toddler area. Depends on what facilities you are looking for.

We stayed at the C & CC site which we weren't that impressed with. Check out here for recommendations of sites in York.

We also visited the Sandcastle Water Park in Blackpool last weekend which was excellent. It is meant to be the largest in the UK and we were pleasantly surprised how clean and tidy it was. It is much larger and has 18 attractions. Don't know if it is too far for you to travel though?

Thanks for the ideas.  We have been to the dome once and the kids loved it - so they are desparate to go again.    I think the York idea is good but they think it is abit close to home and would rather do it as a day trip.

The Blackpool one sounds good - I think the distance is OK.  We have to be able to get back to Halifax for gymnastics training while we are away but I don't mind driving for and hour and a half.

I will go and look up the other suggestions.  Cheers!
