Looking for a site within traveling distance of Bournmouth, travelling by train, so we can travel down to the airshow. Not too bothered about the facilities on site so long as there is adequate public transport close by. Would prefer walking and nice scenery in the area. Have used the search facility and spent about a week searching and can only find one in Christchurch but it seems a little expensive for what is on site as we are looking peak season..
Can anyone suggest a suitable site please?

Well i live in Poole and i've been racking my brains to try and think of somewhere for you.
I actually think Christchurch might be your best option as you can get quite a few buses to to Bournemouth Square from there . The beach is less than a five minute walk from the square. Last year everyone sat on the beach or the prom to watch the air show. The show was great , as was the weather.
The only other thing i can think of is to do a search around Wimborne there's a few sites there. Poole is the nearest train station to Wimborne and Wimbornes only 5 miles or so from Poole.
There's also Wareham that has sites and a train station or a few sites in Poole e.g.
Beacon Hill
Merley Court.
I still reckon a site in Christchurch will be the easiest option though.
Am I right in thinking that you want a static caravan? If so there is Sandhills Caravan Park at Mudeford, close to Christchurch - approx. 3 miles from the station.
Buses stop outside the entrance which go straight to the heart of Bournemouth and Poole. The site borders right on to the beach and has good walks in both directions along a promenade.
A bit further away at Barton on Sea is Shorefield and also Bashley at New Milton. The railway station for both these sites is New Milton and buses also run from there to Bournemouth centre.
BTW you spell "Bournemouth" with an "e" in the middle

Hope this helps,

Ah, so you spotted the deliberate mistake. You always get more replies from locals if you make one of those lmao.
I have a tourer which is what i want the site for, sorry did not make it clear.

Ashurst in the New Forest is right by the railway station (and a pub) on the mainline into Bournemouth and the trains stop every twenty minutes. Loads of walks, great scenery and a nice site. Very very pricey, Forest Holidays are really taking the **ss this year with their various supplements, but if you can swallow that I doubt you could do much better. There is another site by Sway railway station but I cannot comment on it, that is closer to town, but not such a rural location.
Your other option would be any of the great sites on the Purbecks and then get a 150 bus straight into Bournemouth town centre.

Thanks Wendy. Have looked at the Wareham site but i think it is a little too rural as we have 2 teenage girls with us. Would have loved the Poole Haven site to be owned by someone else as that looks like a perfect place for a site, looked last year and they wanted around £850 for a 2 week stay
Thanks Ian, had a look through there but nothing suitable apart from the ones mentioned. Was kinda hopin someone may know a CL or CS or something else that was not listed.
Forestry Commission site on edge of Brockenhurst would be my recommendation - 5 or 6 minutes walk from station (for Bournemouth), and a lively village for the evenings, with great pubs/resturants etc.
Best of...

The Camping and Caravan Club site at Moreton is across the road from the main line into Bournemouth. Bit of a walk from the train station into town though.
We stayed at Moreton C&CC site last year, going back again this year and will make more use of the rail service this time. Trains are available to most places along the coast.
