HI, we have just joined the c&cc and where looking at the temp sites. Most say own san ess. We are guessing at what this means but does anybody know exactly what this entails?
Might be a silly question I know but got to start somewhere
Thanks
Janet

All you get on site is a tap for fresh water, and a hole in the ground for what you have all ready guessed at. You might get electric that depends on the site, the up side is the price and a peaceful location. In your unit you must have a toilet and be able to wash, hope this helps
Paul has summed it up, a toilet and somewhere to wash. There will always be fresh drinking water and somewhere to empty the toilet.
There may be some facilities available but not 24/7, or maybe some distance from the field: for example some will be on fields adjacent to proper sites and you may be allowed to use their facilities. Or there could be a pub with toilets you can use during opening hours. We stayed at one at a Rugby Club - there was a clubhouse open in the evenings which had a bar and toilets, and we could use the showers any day or evening when they weren't playing!
They are all different - there is usually a contact no. you can ring for advice if you are not sure.

The temp site that I use says own san ess or own san advisable, but the site has showers and toilets free to use at all times, its just that the rally field is the furthest field from the toiletblock. On this site , a portaloo wouldn't be needed , but a bucket for night time is fine. Best to check with the organisers.
Thanks for all the replies. We have a toilet and a washroom in our f/c so all should be ok for the weekend, I was just concerned about the disposal of the san.
