Hi Everyone,

Help needed!  I am looking for summer in Cornwall but don't seem to be able to find anything under £25 per night, I am not after the world just grass, electric, play area, toilet and showers, anything else would be a bonus.

What happened to paying per pitch? I have 4 children and I am stunned by the prices people want me to pay for them, oh i love them dearly but i am not sure they warrant the £7.50 each a night one place was asking!

Is anyone else coming up against the rising prices, or has it always been this expensive?

If anyone out there has any suggestion please let me know. (and no i can't leave the kids at home, i have already checked its not allowed!!!)

This place is great and cheap, returnig for the third time this year! I know it's not tehnically Cornwall, but it's just on the devon / Cornwall border, Bude is about 1/2 hr away!

I am watching this one with interest. Some of the pricesI have come across are ridiculous. £3 per night to keep my dog tied up and I have to exercise her off the premises. How much wear and tear is there on 4 small paws. Would almost be cheaper to stay at a travelodge than on some of these sites.

I priced one up at £55 per night, and it wasn't all singing all dancing, don't get me wrong it was a lovely site, but they quite obviously just wanted a singles only summer, because there is no way families would pay what they were asking!

Are there six of you Mandy? TBH for Cornwall over the school holidays I would regard anything under £5 pppn as not a bad deal. I know it adds up for your whole family but I'd be amazed if I could get less than £10 pppn for the two of us even on a CS with no toilets and no EHU.

We are hosting a meet in Cornwall, see details at the bottom of my post £15 per night inc EHU, at the moment we only have pitches available for the 2nd week, 1st - 8th August, although pitches may become available for the 1st week 25th July - 1st August. Also Paul is hosting a meet here £18 per night NO EHU from the 8th August - 15th August.

Another site that we went to last year here think it was only £11.50 per night inc EHU, site was nice and peaceful, but I must say that the toilet/shower block was a little dated and not too clean :o(.

Cheap sites are out there, you just have to keep looking LOL

We are also a family of 6, and many site prices this year have gone much higher than last year, one has gone up by 60% :0(

Under £25 per night for 6 people is pushing it in the summer school holidays if you want anything half decent and anywhere near beaches etc.

Personally, we love Gunvenna in St Minver (near Polzeath). For 6 of you it would be £30 a night but great location and nice site with spotless facilities. It's £25 a night plus £2.50 for each extra person...

Hope you find somewhere...have fun...

We have five sites booked this Summer. All are under £25. It did take a bit of searching but you can find them eventually.

I do agree though that some of the sites do overcharge for extras beyond the basic pitch price and do seem to be alienating families because of it.

i think the c&cc are getting very expensive now but they used to do a family deal , im not sure if they still do but when our children were younger it was worth while.

£25/£30 not bad for 6 people,we have been told by a couple of site owners in cornwall that because more people are holidaying in this country this year some are putting up there prices and are still nearly booked up already,   book early.

Hi Everyone,

I have booked for Magor Farm, looks like there is plenty of room for the kids to run about. Fingers crossed it will be great.

If anyone has been please let me know what they thought.

Thanks everyone x

For traffic nightmares alone, I'll probably avoid Cornwall. I was at least considering a 3-night stay at a North Cornwall site mid-week - hmm ... might not now!
