It looks like we're only going to get one camping holiday this year - August BH - so I'm planning already.

We've not been for a couple of years and we now have a toddler in tow. So I'm looking for a quiet dog friendly site that's not adults only within about an a hour/hour and a half's drive from Coventry, that also has tent pitches.

The big thing is I'm finding it difficult to judge is which sites are quiet ones. From experience, August Bank holiday can mean that some places get really packed and noisy.

Can anyone recommend anywhere that is likely to be quiet but that still has washing/toilet facilities?

Cheers :)

Hi annajl

In our experience most 'bucket & spade' sites are busy (and noisy) in August.

Last year we opted for a nice quiet weekend in August - inland - on Dartmoor!

OK the weather wasn't fab (so maybe that's why it was so quiet) so it maybe different this year (fingers crossed!).

We stayed at Langstone Manor.  It's a lovely little site.  Great facilities, doggie friendly and it even has it's own bar/restaurant on site (not too close to some of the camping areas and certainly not noisy!).

Hope it's not too far from Coventry for you.  Check it out anyway.

Good luck.

Thanks for the recommendation. It's a little far for us this time, but that's a good suggestion for when we're wanting to range a little further. Cheers

Cheshire would be a definite possibility. Do you have anywhere specific in mind?

How about the C&CC site at Cannock Chase - plenty of space for the dog and wee one to play.

We were at Glyn Y Mul farm http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=4636 for the BH and it was lovely and quiet. We have 2 young children and both were happy to play in the woods and river and watch the (occasional slow) train.

A lovely couple and their young child arrived the next day and said that they had phoned around nearby sites to be told off that it was Bank Holiday and didn't they realise? Then they rang Ian at Glyn y Mul farm who was offended to be offered a deposit .. "I can trust you can't I?" was his response and so they arrived.

Like us they just chilled out and relaxed in the peace & quiet and watched their daughter toddle around, feeding the ducks and listening to the birds.

I doubt if any site will be quiet this August bank holiday, i am afraid that if it is you need to ask why.

A lot of parks are finding an increase in bookings this year with the bank holidays being booked well in advance.

Best of luck in your search.
