I have just looked at the Camping and caravanning site at Dunbar Lothians Scotland. It was a new site last year but how can they justify an increase from 2008 at £18.10 to £24.35 in 2009 for a caravan and two adults.THE FACILITIES are still the same.

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
I couldn't agree more. Could some clever so and so work out the percentage increase that amounts to? I'll bet its much higher than the rate of inflation.
With the credit crunch you'd think people would be trying to entice people onto sites not ripping them off. That's actually a 134.53% increase, not bad if you can get away with it.
Could it be that they did'nt charge enough last year and have had to readdress the pricing structure ??? Taking into account the massive rises in utility bills last year.

Time will tell!
If the site is full all season then the increase is acceptable. It means that we are willing to pay it, fairness dosent come into it.
Its called capitalism.
Getting as much for something as the punter is willing to pay!
I would go elsewhere.

I looked at a site in derbyshire.....£23 for van & 2 persons, ok i thought, then noticed extra persons...£10 each per night. That would make it £53 per night for me, wife, Mother-in-law, & 2 16 yr old girls......no thanks.
Unfortunately because of the `credit crunch` pitch fees are likely to increase rather than decrease - simple supply and demand. If the expected increase in `holiday-at-home` punters match the predictions then the sites will be full at the higher charges.
I can see the sites adopting a `make hay while the sun shines` attitude, as if the `crunch` is cyclical (as they usually are) the new customers will be off abroad again as soon as things pick up.
Thats when you remember where you went on holiday in 2009 - and why.
