We are looking for a Seasonal Pitch for our 12 month old tourer. We Love Cheshire - Shropshire and the Leek area of the Peak district. We prefer quieter sites near to village/River/lake etc and just wondered if anyone has any ideas? as its very difficult to search on the net and get sensible info!

I spent weeks looking for a seasonal pitch, just got one at Henstent. Beautiful site, good facilities with outstanding views and a river. They may have one left. It is 17 miles outside Oswestry.
Also try Glencote in Leek, I know they are full for this year, but will put you on the list. I looked all over in Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire so I know what a probem you're having.
Price is also is a consideration, some in the region of £2k plus cost of electricity.
Just email every site you fancy, as not all sites advertise that they do seasonals, as eajess says you can spend weeks looking for a site, we gave up in the end, as the sites we really wanted were too expensive, or had a 2 year waiting list, Glad your fixed up now eajess. Penny
Hope you get on ok. Both campsites are open all year but Henstent will do seasonal pitches for either six or twelve months. There is another on in Ashbourne which had vacancies but would only allow one small pet. I will try and see if I can find it. Don't know what it's like, we've never been there. Rivendale just outside Ashbourne also does seasonal pitches but no vacancies at the moment, but you could put your name down. Very nice, heated shower block and a small pub on site.
Just remembered. Try Newnes Touring Caravan Park at Ellesmere Shropshire. Open all year near a canal. I tried but there we no shower facilities but were building some this year. Also owner wasn't too impressed with me having a Yorkshire Terrier!!!!! We were however going to go and see but Henstent came up in the meantime.
Penny, if you're still interested maybe you also could give it a whiz
Henstent don't welcome families on seasonals, but he did say some take the grandchildren at weekends etc. I stayed there last week end on my own and there were children about.
Newnes, I don't think a Pyrenean would pose a problem, just Yorkies. Had the same problem when trying at Lairhillock, response being "come for a week end before signing up for a seasonal, and see how we get on" Poor little soul, she is the length of two tins of beans and the height of one. Oh well!!!
