We are looking to tour a part of Ireland, but there aren't any campsites listed here. Which did surprise me! So ... does anyone have experience of any campsites in Ireland please?

There are sites listed in Ireland, you need to go into the overseas/abroad search, or whatever it's called. I have been to quite a few Irish sites - which area are you looking at?
kerry is beautiful, went over for paddys day, but stayed in a hotel in killarney. I have stayed at a nice site just outside killarney on the ring of kerry road, but just can,nt remember the name, all of ireland is lovely in its own special way, but I do prefer the west coast. Must add also the north has beautiful places. If I win the lottery, then Ireland is where I would buy a home, or even a caravan site !!!! Penny
Years ago I stayed on the west coast and visited Kerry & Connemara. Absolutely beautiful and we were even lucky with nice weather! The roads seem short but it takes ages to travel, so we thought we'd stick to Wicklow area this time.

Mannix Point is nice, even nicer imo is Wave Crest, but you really need good weather for the latter, as there's not much around except lovely scenery and beaches. At least Mannix Point is near a town.
Decide on which region you want to go to first and we can help better with sites.
While the South East is beside the Rosslare ferry, it's relatively flat and uninteresting and most visitors head elsewhere. Close to the ferry there is Dublin and the Wicklow hills to the North or historic Kilkenny and Waterford (those 2 counties being my particular favourite region) to the West. Farther on theres Cork and Kerry to the West, and even further Galway. The North also gets it's share of visitors and is very varied and of course uses £ sterling.

How long is the Swansea/Cork ferry journey? That might work better as I'd prefer somewhere prettier and hillier. Cork/Kerry etc. othewise, it would probably be the Wicklow area.

It takes all night I think, so more expensive anyway plus you would have to pay for a cabin. I know you are nearer to Fishguard than Holyhead but if you want to go to Wicklow then Holyhead might be better, plus once you are on the M5 it is motorway or dual carriageway all the way. Getting out of Dublin or Dun Laoghaire is a bit of a nightmare though, so best to have a satnav that will work abroad.
If you are looking at Wicklow I would cross to Rosslare which would be easier than fighting your way through Dublin. If you cross from Holyhead go to Dun Laoghaire not Dublin Port. Irish Ferries cross from Pembroke to Rosslare.
