Hi All,

Looking for a campsite on the Pembrokeshire coastline somewhere near St Davids for a couple of weeks in August..

Must take dogs,& I would prefer EHU.Doesnt have to be flashy but must have a nice shower block.I am a member of the CC but most sites are fully booked for August.

We have a Pennine Pathfinder.

Initially it is just 2 adults & a dog but as usual grown up kids & partners will probably appear.

Any help gratefully received.

xx

Hi Ravenglass. This site isn't right on the coast. Here
If that's what you're looking for try somewhere like Caerfai Farm which will probably be crowded by now.
However, Hendre Eynon is a site we love. It's basically two large fields separated by a hedge with oodles of space for the kids to play. The owners are lovely and very helpful. It's just a few miles from St Davids which now boasts a reasonable supermarket. It takes dogs happily and has a separate dog walking area. Sadly, one of the best beaches in the area, Whitesands, will be out of bounds as dogs are banned, but there are plenty of others in the area, including Abereidi and Abermaw. A little further afield is Newgale, where dogs are banned at one end - where the car park is pay-and-display but you can take them to the other end where the parking is free.
The site has a large number of EHUs and it boasts spotless toilets and showers including family shower rooms all free. It has an industrial-sized washing machine and dryer - which you have to pay for and washing up sinks which are free. We think it's a lovely, peaceful site without any kind of "entertainment" and if you speak to the owners soon, you may be able to take over one of our pitches when we leave after our two week break. Anything else you need to know, please ask.

Pete

Bill and Brenda's at St Petrox is great! It's a bit further south than St David's but it really is a lovely site. All mod cons too.

Great spot, Pembrokeshire. We always go at least once a year!

We are going to the CC site  - Lleithyr Meadow in our FC, and taking our dog. Very handy for St David's and Whitesands beach and spotless shower block. From what I remember Whitesands has a dog ban on the beach, but there are grassy areas immediately behind the beach that dogs are allowed on - I think people with dogs tended to sit there and it seemed very pleasant with lovely views of the sea & direct access to sand for the children.

we went to this site last year and the year before i loved it.nice walks along the coast and the beach was just down the road. there was a commercial site next door to the club site but i dont know the name of it . then a large static site as well perhaps some one on here will be able to help with the name of it.

Hi,

Thanks for all your replies.                                            I had decided we would like to go to Lleithyr Meadow as it sounds perfect & we are members but the website is showing virtually full for July & August except for an odd night.

I am beginning to think it was a waste of money joining any club as all the sites I have looked at seem to be full.

This is our 1st year with the FC & its looking like I have left it too late to book.

I am now getting desperate, anymore suggestions.

Cheers. Happy Easter to you All.

xx

we have booked at whitewell holiday park near tenby, 5 mins to beach, never been before, but all the reviews are very good, and that swayed it for us, plus the small bar on site.  we are booked for july, so don,nt know about august.  Penny

Have you tried ringing Lleithyr Meadow direct? We went there 2 years ago and when we booked the website was showing them as full, but when I rang the site they said they could fit us in - worth a try! We are returning this year because we all loved that part of Pembrokeshire, it is stunning.

Another site which we had considered was Pencarnon Farm - right on the coast with direct access to a beach. It has good reviews but was more expensive. We walked to it last time we were in the area - it looked a little basic, but is in a wonderful spot.

Thanks for that looks great but a tad expensive.

£15 per adult. £2 per dog & £2 EHU per night.

It would cost the two of us £34 per night & if we have an extra 2 grown up kids & partners for a few days that would add an extra £60 per night.

Definitely a no go.

Cheers.

xx
