I am looking to go to the Lakes on 22nd May (Bank Hol wk/end). It is two adults and a four yr old. Electrics would be good but would go without . I am looking for a site with good showers and toilet facilities with something to keep the little amused e.g play area , open spaces. Would also prefer to be in walking distance of places to go to.

I'd recommend the Fisher Ground campsite in the Duddon Valley. Nice site cracking views geat walking ~ hard or easy, take your pick  and you can have a fire. Ratty Railway and pubs close at hand. Great little park & pond for kids to get wet and dirty in. Every time we discuss wher to go for a weekend my kids chooes "Park in the dark", it got it's alternative name as first time we visited we got there late and they played on the park in the dark while I set up (Seems obvious really).

On the downside it can get very busy and they don't take bookings and the owners seem to keep packing 'em in. Never the less there are some other good sites close by. If you want a bigger town it's a fair treck to Whitehaven, so make sure you're well stocked up on bacon & eggs, cos the local shops (probably 3 miles away) aint cheap.
