hi we have just come back from primrose valley and it was a excellent well spaced site with the best showers and toilets i have seen on a site 5*,

however we are going to the haven blue dolphin site in the summer (going with family who only have a tent) we went to have a look when we drove passed and it looks grim so thinking about changing sites, has anyone been to blue dolphin that can share their views???

Thanks everyone for all your replies & photos.

Very helpful.

I fancy Haven Seton Sands near Edinburgh.

Any feedback about this site ?

Cheers

xx

Ps. Brian - Great photo of Greenacres. We went 2 years ago in August in a static & everyone seemed to be packed in tighter.

we stayed at lakeland haven 2 years ago when we had trailer tent,we stayed in october, thought it was nice site, but there was a lack of wardens there,a couple of people had their music blaring out at 1-2 in morning, which spoiled it a bit.best haven we have stayed is New quay in mid wales, but they are only static site

I can relate to some of the reviews on the link above.  It is the roughest Haven site I have seen.  All units are mixed up willy nilly with no planning.  One night there was a really loud domestic going on, which seemed to go on for ages, but they were gone in the morning.

Having said all this we did enjoy our stay there and met some nice people.  We had a good time going to edinburgh and exploring some of the local castles using a pass we bought from the scottish historic trust.

We have stayed on Haven sites for years and out of the school holidays they are generally fantastic. Lots of space, usually good facilities, plus the added bonus of the entertainment/bar (which I have to say is very expensive) but handy to be onsite.

However, we have now stayed in a tent during the summer holidays twice and I've hated it. Tents are really cramped together and the guy ropes overlapping and not nice listening to neighbours farting in their sleep! Admittedly, this was at Seaview in Weymouth both times so can't comment on other sites during school hols.

But we won't be staying in a haven again unless its in a static caravan. Kids don't agree..but then again...the kids aren't paying for it!

We have just come back from Primrose Valley and had a fantastic time

Pitches are plenty big enough for our large motorhome and awning showers imaculate and the warden is great.

Been to Blue dolphin loads of times and it does depend were you pitch as it can be boggy.  There is a coice of pitches hard standing ect.

Going to Blue Dolphin for Bank holiday weekend and going to park the van on a grass pitch for the first time.  Loads of space to pictch kids love it.

Been to Lakeland with the tent on a Bank holiday weekend and would never go again.

We pitched the tent and went out for some food when we came back we were surrounded by that many tents just put anywere we couldn't get the car back to the tent.

Been to Haggestone castle last September pitches not very big for a large van but ok

Burnham on Sea was great clean showers nice family bathroom, pitches huge fit out tent which was a Outwell Nebraska XXL loads of room.  All surrounded by little bushes would go back any time.

Seaview stayed one night and left showers minging pitches tiny and all chewed up by caravans etc, we were in a tent.

Would never stay in a static caravan at Haven have seen how they were cleaned lol

It depends on what you are looking for from your holiday, have a look on google earth for pictures of the site you are looking at.

Hope you find what you want

You are welcome to come and join us at Blue Dolphin it's only £43 for 3 night sover the bank holiday

Lisa,

Couldn't agree more with your comments about Haven at Perranporth, stayed there a few years ago and had the worst holiday ever, nowhere to sit outside the unit as the next one was so close and no depth to pitches so no space front or back, facilities disgusting and tourers seem ed to be considered second class, all efforts put into the static units.

I've used golden sands at mablethorpe and this site suffers from a problem which must be the same looking at all the other pictures and that is really rough ground, I realise that grass gets hammered during a busy season but it never seems to get repaired it's left as rough soil/gravel patches. The pitches on EHU were also very tight with only space to park a car then the next van, but tenters were left to pitch how they wanted. The other bug bear was kids playing in the toilets/showers so they were always wet through all the time.

Ive stayed at many Haven sites and although there have been some issues at one or two sites over the years its never been any worse than some of the smaller private sites weve visited.Main difference is when we complain at Haven something gets done about it !!!!!!
