Hi
I have trawled the review board etc but am finding just too much to go through!
I posted yesterday but my post was a bit long and with a lot of areas so I thought I would post seperate posts for each of the areas I want to visit, if that is ok?
Anyway..
We are new to camping, just waiting for our tent to be delivered!
We live in Sheffield and I have always been a fan of the South West- mainly Cornwall. Have done Devon last yr & yr before (Riveria & North Devon) in hired static van and chalet. So.. it's a bit far for us to go for the sake of a weekend or so but if the other half can get holidays at work we could squeeze a week in in the Summer (Jun, July or Aug).
So.. Can anyone recommend and campsites in the South West (but NOT Devon as want a change!), that meet the following requirements-
Tent pitches with EHU
Hot shower and toilet facilities
Family Friendly (2 kids aged 2yrs and the baby who is, at present, only 3wks!)
With Shop
With bar or club (preferably with entertainment for kids)
Coastal or not too many miles from the coast (would love to go on coastal walks)
Bonuses would be swimming pool and amusements, playground for my eldest daughter etc. But not essential.
Anyone recommend any? In Somerset, Dorset or Cornwall?
Thanks!

I can't recommend a specific site for you as we don't use EHU, but I can certainly recommend the North Somerset coast around Dunster, Minehead or Watchet. I think sites close to Minehead would suit you quite well, as there it is a quite lively area, with plenty for families to do. The countryside is pretty too.
Keep on trawling through the campsite reviews, they are very accurate and helpful.
Good Luck

We are going to Pentewan Sands and thats got just about everything you have asked for. I have not been there before but there are those on this site who have who could give you more info. There are threads about it also.

How about Newlands in Charmouth. We had our very first camping trip there. Nice site, good facilities, great playpark, swimming pool (didn't use)clubhouse with entertainment (which we didn't enjoy because the "entertainer" used a lot of strong language which I didn't like with children around - but he might not be there anymore)
Also, fairly short walk to the beach.

Hello! Thanks for the replies- have added the sites mentioned to my Virtual Brochure to check out properly tomorrow.
Any more? Keep them rolling in ! Hehe... I do love Cornwall, have been to all Westcountry counties when I was young but can't really remember Somerset (think I went there anyway!) or Dorset. The drive is long for us so I am thinking it would have to be a week stay, so looking for cheaper ones too. Think we will go late June before the prices hike up in the school hols.

HRU is all singing all dancing with EHU tent pitches - right across the road from the beach - Brean Down is just up the road and Weston-Super-Mare only a short drive, or if you want less busy then drive into one of the villages around and about

Hi, I see you are going to Skegness Butlins in May. Well Butlins Minehead do camping although not advertised much if at all on the website. It's costing us £55.00 for Mon to Fri (4 nights), thats with everything in (e.g. electric, entertainment etc.) The camping bit is at the far end of the complex so away from everything. We have been twice before and loved it, obviously Butlins is not for everyone but at the end of the day our 3 year old loves it and at that price we can afford to go a few times a year. If you want any more info let me know.

Hey! Oh I never knew that, I have never been to Butlins before, just going for a short break, mainly because it's not too far a drive, we know the area and I guess there's lots for kids to do to occupy our 2yr old. Would love more info definitely! Is it a case of ring up & ask or turn up?! Thank you!

Well if you have never been to Butlins, it's definately an experience, very busy, noisy, but full of entertainment for the young ones. As I said it's not to everybodys taste but we find with the campsite that it's far away from the complex so there is no noise apart from other campers which you get everywhere so we can keep ourselves away from the main complex and some of the people!!! (When you get there you'll see what I mean!!!) Every time we have been to Butlins, the campsite (well field) has been really quiet probably because we go outside school holidays. I would advise booking, just ring the main Minehead Butlins number and ask for the camping section, then you can book over the phone or they will send out a form for you to fill in.
May - Butlins - Minehead
June - Haven - Perran Sands

There are lots of lovely sites in somerset. Warren Farm is a lovely site (toilets were really clean which is one of my most important points when I'm looking for sites). Across the road from the beach, lots of entertainment etc.
